Chestnut Autumn
Posted: Oct 22, 2026 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Chestnut Class
We have had a very busy start to our Autumn term in Chestnut class but have all settled extremely well and enjoyed getting to know some new friends in our class.
We have been looking at the topic of ‘Traditions’ and thinking about the things that we do every day within our routines. We have enjoyed completing morning routine activities as well as bedtime routines and stories. We have also had some birthdays this half term and so focused on what we do when it is a birthday and enjoyed celebrating with games and a party!
We have continued to develop our attention and listening skills through our attention time sessions and have recently loved all the seasonal items that have come out of the bucket. The pumpkin spinner and light up Halloween toys have been particular favourites.
In Maths, we have been working on our counting and number recognition as well as thinking about ‘heavy’ and ‘light’ and looking at different 2D shapes. We have been busy exploring all these Maths topics through our play and continuous provision and all the staff have been very impressed with how much we know!
Next half term we will be starting to think about Christmas and all the traditions involved in that special celebration. We look forward to all the amazing activities and cannot wait to take part in the annual Nativity. Keep your eyes peeled on the school newsletter for the date and information on how to get tickets.
