Express yourself

Posted: Mar 15, 2023 by: Sian Peel (speel) on: Rowan Class

This term in Rowan we have continued our exploration of Japan, the Japanese language and culture, we even had our very own Japanese Tea Ceremony, we made green tea and Japanese sweets, we also had the opportunity to wear a kimono!

In Maths we have been exploring weight and capacity, holding items in our hands to predict which will be heavier or lighter, then putting them into the balance scales to see if our predictions were correct. We have been experiencing a range of measuring tools and experimenting with capacity, using coloured water to make it more visual.

As part of this term’s topic ‘Express Yourself – Speak Up’ we have been experiencing different performing arts and having a go ourselves, performing for our class friends, we have enjoyed puppet shows, comedy sketches, magic shows and of course our favourite karaoke!

We have also enjoyed Science Week in Rowan, lots of exciting exploration and experiments, we have some very keen scientists. With cooking, minibeast hunts and planting we certainly made the most of Science Week.

The outdoor classroom has been transformed into a ‘pop up shop’ we have been very busy in there, dressing in the supermarket uniform and selecting items from the well-stocked shelves to add to our baskets and take through the check out system, its proved a huge success with all the children and staff.
