My Amazing World – Planet Earth

Posted: Feb 27, 2024 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Rowan Class

Rowan class has been diving into our theme, 'My Amazing World – Planet Earth,'.  This has connected with both Science and Geography. Students engaged in creating sensory maps of the world, comparing diverse environments like rainforests, deserts, and oceans. They matched animals to their respective habitats and explored stories related to different environments, such as 'The Ugly Five' for Grasslands, 'SUNK' for Oceans, and 'There’s a Ran Tan in my room' for Rainforests.

In Math, the focus shifted to 3D shapes, time, and number concepts. Art class took a cultural turn as students delved into the work of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, resulting in the creation of self-portraits in her distinctive style.

Musical exploration featured body percussion, African call and response songs, and Celtic Sea Shanties in music lessons. To build independence skills, the pupils ventured into the community, exploring Avenham Park and socializing in the café.

Pupils who access the Tennis Centre for P.E. embraced challenging circuit training, while on-site P.E. focused on movement to music, physical and sensory PLIMS, and Conductive Education.

The hard work of every student in Rowan class has truly made us proud!
