Oak Class Autumn
Posted: Nov 2, 2025 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Oak Class
Oak Class has had a fantastic start to the new school year, welcoming both returning pupils and new staff members. Everyone has been getting to know each other through a variety of fun and engaging activities, including creating personal "All About Me" profiles and playing social games that encourage interaction and teamwork.
Some pupils have also enjoyed sensory-based sessions such as music and movement, Tac Pac, and Attention Time. Our sensory stories this term have taken us on a journey around Britain and into the vibrant celebration of Diwali, with pupils exploring tactile resources that brought each story to life.
In cookery, pupils have taken charge by designing their own menu and preparing their own lunches. So far, they've made pizzas, butter pie, spaghetti bolognese, and toasties — all of which were thoroughly enjoyed.
Weekly community visits to our local Sainsbury’s have helped pupils practice important life skills by following shopping lists to collect ingredients for their cooking sessions. We've also continued our weekly swimming lessons at the leisure centre and PE sessions at the tennis centre, keeping active and having fun.
Next term we will be continuing to create more dishes in our cookery lessons, learning how to keep our bodies healthy in PSHE and taking part in a range of Christmas themed activities including our highly anticipated Christmas show.
