Oak Autumn Term
Posted: Dec 18, 2025 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Oak Class
This term, our pupils have taken part in a wide range of enriching and engaging activities. Some of our learners have been attending Runshaw College, where they have enjoyed quizzes, bracelet‑making sessions, and even the exciting opportunity to speak live on Runshaw Radio. We have also continued our weekly visits to the gym and the leisure centre for swimming lessons, supporting pupils’ physical development and confidence in the water.
In maths, our focus has been on money. We created our own Oak Class shop, giving pupils the chance to take on the roles of customer and shopkeeper. Pupils were then able to transfer these skills into real life contexts during their work experience placements, using the till to serve customers.
Our sensory learners have been fully immersed in a variety of multisensory lessons. They have explored a range of tactile resources through our sensory stories, including Chapati Moon, A Journey Around Britain, and People Who Help Us. In RE, we have been learning about Hinduism and Christianity, exploring Diwali and the Nativity through practical, hands-on activities.
A major highlight of the term has been preparing for our whole-school Christmas production, The Coppice Christmas Caper. Pupils have been spending lots of time creating props and practising their roles. We are also looking forward to our Christmas carol singing session at GeeTees, which promises to be a wonderful festive experience.
