Welcome to Oak!

Posted: Nov 7, 2023 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Oak Class

We welcomed some new students into Oak this year; Ellie, Faith, Sean, Muhammed, Laura and Millie have all joined the class group. We enjoyed doing different activities to get to know you.

Calvert Trust

We had the opportunity for some of the group to experience an adventure experience at The Calvert Trust Centre near Keswick in The Lakes. They got to try lots of different activities like Zip wire, climbing wall, Abseiling, rope swing, bushcraft. We loved all the activities ( possibly loved the food even more)

Music with Anne

In this half term we had a music tutor come in to help us learn more about music. We enjoyed using all the different instruments and making up our own silly songs

Runshaw College

Some of the class have started to access Runshaw College and get to try lots of different activities there. After an orientation and getting their own student badges they looked at their future program. These range from cooking, to making craft using the different equipment for different sports.

Duke of Edinburgh:

We have started looking at what we will need to complete the Duke of Edinburgh award. We started by looking at volunteering this half term and what ways we can help support local charities. This included visiting lots of charity shops and what type of things they collect.

Theme: Music through the Decades

We have learnt how people did different dances in different decades. We listen to the 50’s 60’s 70’s and 80’s picking out the music we liked and how music had changed over time. We followed how some artists had been popular in lots of different decades and had tried the different dances ourselves.
