In Oak Class

Posted: Feb 27, 2024 by: Debbie Bagwell (dbagwell) on: Oak Class

We have returned after our Christmas break and have got straight back into doing lots of different work. Just before Christmas we made Christmas table decorations that we took home for our tables. No  one told us how dangerous this was and we all got spiked a few times when placing the greenery in the oasis but they looked very beautiful in the end. So well worth the effort.

Different Cultures

We have been learning about different places in the world and we focused on the Chinese New Year The year of the Dragon. In this we learnt about what this means and what Chinese zodiac each person was from the year that they were born in. In cooking we had great fun making Chinese spring rolls and letting pupils explore all the different ingredients. In the end we enjoyed tasting them.

PHSE.

In this we have continued our learning about first aid. We have learnt about giving CPR and got to practice on Annie dummies. We also practiced our bandages and how to deal with cuts. We are currently using some dolls to practice our stomach thrust and back slaps for when people are choking. ( staff didn’t volunteer for this part)

Music with Anne

In this half term we had a music tutor come in to help us learn more about music. We enjoyed using all the different instruments and making up our own silly songs

Runshaw College

At Runshaw college we have continued to explore a range of different activities but the one we enjoyed the most was when we took over Runshaw Radio for the morning. We had each chosen our own songs and got to introduce this on the radio over the microphone. It was a very eclectic mix of music that morning but everyone seem to enjoy it.  We also used computers to create posters about ourselves. Called this is me, we printed out all the things that we liked and made us who we are.
